Alvin Kallicharran, the prolific batsman for West Indies, was born on this day. He was only 5ft 4inches and thus was regarded as a Little Master. He made 12 centuries in his 66 Tests. He made centuries in both the innings of his debut Test against New Zealand in 1971-72.

1971
Sunil Gavaskar made his first Test hundred on this day. It was his career’s second match and that too against the mighty West Indian attack in Guyana.

2015
Martin Guptill made the highest score in World Cups. His 237, came in the quarter-final match in Wellington against West Indies. It was the second double-hundred of the 2015 World Cup and the sixth overall.

Her love for sports started from an early age when she played gully cricket and football for local teams. Academics and professional hazards sometimes took her away from her passion, but it never died in her. She always nurtured the never-ending dream.
