The World Cup semi-final that is considered to be silly. It ended in farce. The match between South Africa and England was stopped due to rain when South Africa needed 22 off 13 balls. Ten minutes later, when the play resumed, South Africa were given the target of 21 runs off 1 ball, thanks to the Duckworth-Lewis Policy.

2001
India, led by Sourav Ganguly, won the historic Test series against Australia by 2-1. No one had predicted this result as India, as a team, was far behind than the No. 1 rated Australia. They lost the first match and were down by 24 runs in the second match. From there it was a turn around and India won the series. Harbhajan Singh was the star with 32 wickets in the series. It is also famous for the monumental innings of V V S Laxman and Rahul Dravid in the second match when India saved the follow-on to win the match.

England’s women picked up their third World Cup win on this day when they beat New Zealand by four wickets in Sydney. It is to be noted that their men’s side has never won an ODI World Cup.

Her love for sports started from an early age when she played gully cricket and football for local teams.
