10th National Transplant Games

Date: 24th December, 2017

Venue: Shivaji Park, Mumbai

Description: Sports brings out the best in oneself. It is such an avenue that releases bodily weaknesses

and wins over physical disabilities. The National Transplant Games are organised with a similar motive where organ donors and receivers are encouraged to participate in certain sports disciplines. This conveys the message that transplant patients have the capability and the right to lead a near-normal life after their transplantation.

Narmada Kidney Foundation, an NGO striving hard to create awareness about kidney diseases and transplantation, has been organising the National Transplant Games for the last 9 years. This year is the 10th year of the Games. Though it is not recognised by any official sports body, still the organisation has  attempted to create a professional sporting environment for the participants through this event.

This year there will be around 210 participants from various states. They will participate in Track and Field events, Carrom, Pickleball, Table Tennis, Archery and Rifle Shooting competitions. Hockey legend Dhanraj Pillay is expected to grace the occasion and encourage the participants.
