A month from now, 24 of the best U-17 football teams across the globe will feature in the World Cup to be held in India. The country will host a tournament of this stature for the first time that will kick off on October 6, 2017. India have been clubbed with United States of America, Ghana and Colombia in a tough Group A. The matches will be played in 6 cities-New Delhi, Navi Mumbai, Goa, Kochi , Guwahati and Kolkata. The final will be on October 28, 2017 in Kolkata.

Inspired by the history and heritage of Indian sports, Nike launched the national team kit for India. It boasts of Nike’s proprietary Dri-FIT technology that helps to draw sweat away from the body to the exterior of the kits. In a new shade of blue, the kit features an orange stripe that runs the length of the kit and these expand when the players are in motion. These innovations help maximize ventilation and allow the players to perform at their best by remaining cooler, drier, and more comfortable.

Presenting the kit to Indian colts, senior national team captain Sunil Chhetri said, “Over the years, I have witnessed the India national team kits evolve as the game has. As we continue our journey in the world of football, Nike’s new innovations in the kit will certainly help the team on the field. The material is much lighter and the air truly flows through the jersey to keep us dry on the pitch.”

The leading sports-apparel company, Nike, looked at lowering the environmental impact by using recycled polyester for the kit. The shirts and shorts are made with recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles melted down to produce a fine yarn.

Kushal Das, Secretary of All India Football Federation (AIFF) said, “We are extremely happy that both the senior and the U-17 team will be wearing kits that include some of Nike’s most pinnacle innovations in football. The new blue look for the team will complement our fearless brand of football well.”

The new team kit is available at select Nike retailers from September 8th and on Nike.com starting September 12th.
