Fred Spofforth, nicknamed ‘Demon’ for his accuracy in fast-medium bowling, took the first hat trick in Test history. The feat came against England in Melbourne.

1960
Raman Lamba, the Indian player who died on the cricket field, was born on this day. Lamba played 4 Tests for India, as an opener.  

1978
Sunil Gavaskar became the first batsman to hit a century in each innings of a Test match. In his two innings he made 107 and 182 against West Indies in Calcutta.

1992
Shane Warne, one of the greatest leg-spinner that cricket had, made his debut on this day.  Warne took only 1 wicket in his debut against India in Sydney. His victim was Ravi Shashtri. Eventually Shane Warne took 708 Test wicket and 293 ODI wicket.

Poulomi directs promotional videos, develops scripts for films for Corporate and NGOs. But an ardent sports lover, Poulomi always had an urge to contribute somewhere in the field of sports. Her love for sports started from an early age when she played gully cricket and football for local teams. Academics and professional hazards sometimes took her away from her passion, but it never died in her. She always nurtured the never-ending dream. So she materialized her dream in the form of ‘SPORTSAVOUR’. It is an online sports portal that serves sports with the tagline ‘For the indigenous, unconventional, unknown’.
