Asian Youth Chess Blitz Championship- Indian girls win gold in three categories

AS Sharvaanica, Pratitee Bordoloi and VC Nivedita made their footmark in international chess by bagging gold medals at the 25th Asian Youth Chess Blitz Championship. 

The Asian Youth Chess Championship is an annual event being organised in 12 categories (U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 & U-18) in both girls and open divisions. This year, it is a 9-day long event from December 13-21, 2023 held at AI Ain Community Centre in United Arab Emirates.

India has a large contingent of 60 participants accompanied by coaches Praveen Thipsay, Laishram Imocha, B Neelaiah, Kiran Agarwal and Sanjeev Thakur as Head of the delegation.

Till now, India has won 3 gold medals. AS Sarvaanica, Pratitee Bordoloi and VC VNivedita won the U-8, U-10 and U-12 categories respectively.

Sarvaanica has also won gold in the Asian U-8 Girls’ Rapid Championship held on December 13, 2023. In that event India bagged 9 medals including 4 gold in Rapid Events.
