Khelo India Youth Games- Two national records set in athletic events

Delhi’s Sonam and Rajasthan’s Siddharth Choudhary broke the national record in Women’s 200m Steeplechase and Men’s Shotput respectively at the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games.

Delhi’s Sonam created a new record in 200 metre Steeplechase at the Khelo India Youth Games with a timing of 6.45.71 minutes. She overcame Parul Chaudhary’s national record of 7:06.49, set in 2012.

 

On the other hand, Siddharth Chaudhary of Rajasthan set a new record of 21.04 meters in Shotput. After fouling in his first attempt, Choudary set the national record mark in his second attempt. In his next attempt, he threw a close 21.03m. The previous national record in Men’s youth Shotput was set by Dipender Dabas in 2017 when he threw at 20.99m.

In Athletics, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra won the boy’s and girls’ overall championships respectively. At the end of the sixth day,  Maharashtra is at the top of the medal table with 79 medals including 26 gold medals. Haryana is second with a total of 53 medals including 22 gold and host Madhya Pradesh is third with 21 gold medals.

Poulomi directs promotional videos, develops scripts for films for Corporate and NGOs. But an ardent sports lover, Poulomi always had an urge to contribute somewhere in the field of sports. Her love for sports started from an early age when she played gully cricket and football for local teams. Academics and professional hazards sometimes took her away from her passion, but it never died in her. She always nurtured the never-ending dream. So she materialized her dream in the form of ‘SPORTSAVOUR’. It is an online sports portal that serves sports with the tagline ‘For the indigenous, unconventional, unknown’.
