Shahzar Rizvi wins gold in ISSF World Cup with record score in 10m Air pistol

Meerut-based shooter Shahzar Rizvi clinched gold in the ISSF World Cup with a world record score f 242.3 points to make his maiden appearance in the event memorable. Ace shooter Jitu Rai, however, has to settle for a bronze after he scored 219 points.

Shahzar kept his cool in the final to beat Christian Reitz of Germany, 239.7 points at Guadalajara in Mexico. The other Indian shooter Om Prakash Mitharval who also qualified for the final finished the competition at creditable fourth position with a score of 198.4 points. 

In the women’s section, Mehuli Ghosh shot world junior record 228.4 points to win bronze medal in the 10m air rifle event. Anjum Moudgil finished at fourth position with 208.6 points, while Apurvi Chandela was seventh in the standings with 144.1 points.
