24th Deaflympics- Indian shooters clinch two more gold medals

India bagged two gold medals and a bronze in Shooting at the ongoing 24th Deaflympics in Brazil.

Abhinav Deshwal, hailing from Roorkee in Uttarakhand, won gold in Men’s 10m Air Pistol at the ongoing 24th Deaflympics. The 15-year old was tied with Ukraine’s Oleksii Lazebnyk at the end of the 24-shot final. In the shoot-off, Abhinav shot a 10.3 while Pleskii scored 9.7. Shubham Vashist, the second Indian in the field, finished sixth in the final.

The 4th gold for India was won by the Mixed Doubles pair Dhanush Srikant and Priyesha Deshmukh. They defeated Germany in the final of the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event by 16-10. Another Indian Mixed team of Shourya Saini and  Natasha Joshi finished at a credible fourth. 

Earlier, shooter Vedika Sharma clinched bronze in women’s 10m Air Pistol event with a score of 207.2.
