Asia Pickleball Open 2022: AIPA-India team probables to undergo training in preparatory camps in Mumbai

All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) and Amateur Pickleball Federation of India (APFI) are ready to organise two preparatory camps for AIPA-India team for the Asia Pickleball Open 2022 to be held at Phuket in Thailand from 13th to 17th April, 2022.

The first-ever selection trial for the players to participate in the team game at the Asia Pickleball Open 2022 was held on 10th and 11th March at Prabodhankar Thackerey Krida Sankul in Mumbai. In an official statement, AIPA said, “The selection trial is no exception to AIPA‘s commitment towards improving the scope and scale of Pickleball in India.”

The players who have been selected at the trial can now undergo training in two preparatory camps- the major one to be held from 21st March to 10th April, 2022 and a secondary one from 04th April to 10th April, 2022. AIPA stated, “This preparatory Camp would be a perfect training module for the players to prepare themselves mentally and physically for the major event. The players can choose either the major or the small preparatory camp, as per their convenience.”

Acclaimed international Pickleball player, Atul Edward, will be imparting physical and theoretical training to the players. He will help in improving the playing skills of newer players, and work on weakness of each player by analyzing  playing videos.

Apart from that a specialist will be involved for sports-related specific training. Amruta Karkhanis Deshmukh will lead Individual Mental Assessment and Group Mental Training programme, Dr Chaitanya Badhe will look after the Physical Assessment Programme, Dr Tapan Ashar will share his experience in Strength Conditioning and Functional Training and Yashodhan Deshmukh will be heading the Sports Nutrition programme.
