After much anticipation, Portugal qualified for World Cup 2022 by a 2-0 win against North Macedonia.

Portugal was forced to go through the play-off route to book their place for World Cup 2022 after finishing second in their qualifying group. They overcame Turkey 3-1 to play against North Macedonia in a winner-takes-all final. North Macedonia, on the other hand, had shocked Italy in their own semi-final.

Manchester United star, Bruno Fernandes, scored two goals to secure his country’s place in the finals of the World Cup.

Christiano Ronaldo posted a picture of the squad in his social media handle with the message: “Goal achieved, we’re at the Qatar World Cup, we’re in our rightful place! Thank you to all the Portuguese for the tireless support! Força Portugal!”
